Illegal bike rider caught and prosecuted.

The youth who was recently caught on camera illegally riding an unlicenced trail bike on the pavement in Manor Road (see the photo above) has been caught and interviewed by the Police. He has admitted the offence after seeing incontrovertible evidence supplied by Erith Watch, along with a sworn statement made to the North End Safer Neighbourhood Police Team. He has received a six point penalty, which sits alongside six points he had already accumulated. This means he has been banned from driving or riding before he was even old enough to be eligible to apply for a licence. It is reported that the motorbike is no longer in the area. However, if you see a youth on a trail bike without licence plates, please inform the Police and Erith Watch accordingly - if you can get a photograph of the culprits without putting yourself in danger, please also do so. Erith Watch have had an important success in removing a law breaker who was as much a danger to himself as to others on the streets of Erith.

Well done Erith Watch!  Let us all hope this will deter some of these youngsters in the future.

John.
