The local Neighbourhood Watch social network.

As you may already be aware, there was a Police incident on Erith Jetty, adjacent to the Riverside Gardens yesterday afternoon.  Police were chasing a man who was wanted on charges of affray after an alleged assault outside Erith Health Centre. He evaded Police and jumped off the jetty and into the water. The river Police and the RNLI were called, and the man was rescued. Rumours that he had drowned were incorrect. He was taken to hospital for treatment, and then placed under arrest. You can read more on the story, and see other photos I took of the incident by clicking on this link to the News Shopper here.

Secondly, several local residents have complained about the Traveller pony that is illegally kept in an enclosure at the end of James Watt Way, adjacent to the recycling facility in Morrison's car park. It is apparent that the animal has been neglected, and no food or water was available for it when I checked yesterday. The RSPCA have been informed, and I was assured that an inspector would be visiting within 24 hours.
